Victims and witnesses of crime play a very important part of the criminal justice system. Everyone must do their part to help fight crime and effectively prosecute offenders. Victim and witnesses are especially important because their testimony is invaluable for the successful prosecution of criminals.
The Victim/Witness Services Program has been established to provide a multitude of services to violent crime victims, witnesses and their immediate families. The Victim/Witness Coordinator is available to assist with difficulties which may arise as the result of domestic battery, sexual assault, homicide, reckless homicide, child sexual abuse, and other violent crimes. The Coordinator helps resolve any questions or problems before, during and after prosecution. The Coordinator provides information about the criminal justice system, individual rights, case status, counseling and social service referrals and compensation through the Office of the Illinois Attorney General.
The Victim/Witness Coordinator can be reached by calling (217) 243-5469 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The States Attorney is located on the third floor of the Courthouse.
