NOTICE OF
\nPROPOSED REAL ESTATE TAX LEVY PUBLIC HEARING
\nFOR MORGAN COUNTY, ILLINOIS FOR YEAR 2023<\/p>\n

I. A public hearing to approve a proposed real estate tax levy increase for Morgan County, Illinois for Tax Levy Year 2023 will be held by the County Board of Commissioners of the County of Morgan, Illinois (\u201ccorporate authorities\u201d) on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. in the County Court Room at the Morgan County Courthouse, 300 West State Street, Jacksonville, Illinois 62650.<\/p>\n

Any person desiring to appear at the public hearing and present testimony to the taxing district may contact the County Clerk\u2019s Office at the Morgan County Courthouse, 300 West State Street, Jacksonville, Illinois 62650 and at phone number 217-243-8581.<\/p>\n

II. The corporate and special purpose real estate taxes extended or abated for 2022 were 5,596,419.33.<\/p>\n

The proposed corporate and special purpose real estate taxes to be levied for 2023 are $6,112,408.00. This represents an 9% increase over the previous year.<\/p>\n

III. The real estate taxes extended for debt service and public building commission leases for 2022 were $0.<\/p>\n

The estimated real estate taxes to be levied for debt service and public building commission leases for 2023 are $0. This represents a 0% increase over the previous year.<\/p>\n

IV. The total real estate taxes extended or abated for 2022 were $7,367,304.28.<\/p>\n

V. The estimated total real estate taxes to be levied for 2023 are $7,883,015.00. This represents a 7% increase over the previous year.<\/p>\n

All hearings shall be open to the public. The County Board of Commissioners of the County of Morgan, Illinois shall explain the reasons for the proposed increase to the tax levy and shall permit persons desiring to be heard an opportunity to present testimony at the Monday, December 11, 2023 public hearing, within reasonable time limits as the County Board determines.<\/p>\n
