The Clerk of the Circuit Court is the official keeper of the records and the Seal of the Morgan County Circuit Court. The Clerk’s duties are governed by statute.
The clerks shall attend the sessions of court, preserve all the files and papers thereof, make, keep, and preserve complete records of all the proceedings and determinations thereof, except in cases otherwise provided by law or the order of their courts respectively. 705 ILCS 105/13
The Circuit Clerk collects and distributes all fines, costs, and fees assessed by the Court or required by statute. There are also administrative duties such as statistical reporting and managing the office budget and staff.
